Song of The Day: "The Lengths" The Black Keys

The Black Keys have became one of my favorite bands. They make me excited about new music that is not Hip Hop sorry...Hip Hop is still my first love. I grew up listening to every kind of music under the sun and I've been told recently that all I listen to is Hip Hop and I guess lately I have departed from really anything but Hip Hop. But recently I guess i've realized I need to look back, forward and further to find other forms of music to listen to and enjoy. I like to think of myself as pretty well rounded and I need to start to truly be that way. Like Sam Cooke said A Change is Gonna Come.

Anyways...

I always thought this was a BEAutiful song ever since the first time I heard it driving back home from CT last summer. Every part of it the music the words and how he sings touches my soul right now! I can really feel what he is getting across down to my core every word is so true...

Tell me where you're goin or
what is going wrong
I felt you leavin before
you'd even gone
and hold me now
or never ever hold me again
no more talk
can take me from this pain I'm in pain i'm in

See the moonlight shinin on
your window pane
see it leave you as
faithful as it came
please yourself so you
don't have to be afraid
make amends
or carry on another way another way

tell me what you were thinkin
to treat somebody so
the care he took the
lengths to which he'd go
coals are hot to walk
across without your shoes
but in the end
know that you got nothin to lose nothin to lose

Tis The Season

This time of the year is all about family. People get together with the members of their family like aunts and uncles and cousins and they are a family. When my family gets together its just my mom, dad and brother. I know its not the worst thing in the world I could have no family at all and be all alone ya know, but still I miss not having a big family that is close. There is only four of us and we really aren't that close I wouldn't say we are friends. Its sad. I wish we could be and am trying to work on making it that way.

The past couple of days it has been really good to see all my friends. Chill out by the bonfire pit and just talk. When it comes down to it they truly are my brothers and my family. Most of us have known each other for almost a decade now its crazy! They keep me sane and help me get by...I love all you guys!

Goodbyes

Final sunset at 197 Bridgewater. You could always get great sunsets out the front door of my place in Bridgewater. I don't really know how I feel about leaving, it never truly felt like home compared to the house on haunted hill. Never really got those vibes or have any amazing memories there. I am hoping my new place will help me immerse myself in Athens and find some kind of niche in a city and town that hasn't made me feel too at home in general.

Hoping for the best, prepared for the worst, sitting back trying to catch those cools vibes...

Distant Relatives Album Cover

This right here is another music project that I have been highly anticipating besides BLAKROC. Distant Relatives, is the album that Nasir Jones (NAS) and Damian Marley have been working on together. It is not scheduled to be released until March of 2010 but the album cover which features images of both Nas and Damian Marley has already been leaked. This collaboration is going to be so dope!

Straight Out The Box Wit It...

There is nothing like a nice day of consumerism to lift your spirits when you are down! Today I went up to Lenox mall in the A to pick up some fresh gear at the Nike Store for me and Christmas presents for the people in my life that I care about! Not only were these bad boys just put on sale for $50 less but I got 40% off that! I also copped a sweet ACG Nike rain jacket and a couple of nice sweaters and a pair of gloves from Banana Republic. All in all I'd say it was a success I got me some sweet digs and I think all the gifts I got others they will enjoy too...

All I can say is RZA is a bad motha..shut yo mouth! Did you see him in Funny People come on!

The Root: Sandwiches EP

It was so shocking to me that The Roots became Jimmy Fallons house band for Late Night they are amazing and one of my favorite live acts! Since the show's conception this past March up until today, The Roots crew have written over 1,000 jams that you hear the band playing going into and coming out of commercial breaks called "Sandwiches. Personally I love sandwiches and these tracks are super fresh also...Courtesy of It's All The Way Live, we have the 22 sandwiches the Mighty Afro ?uestlove unleashed, compiled into this EP.

BLAKROC

This project right here has me excited about new music again! BLAKROC is a combination of The Black Keys which I had heard of but never listened to until E introduced me to them and now I am a huge fan, and some of the most intelligent and profound hip hop artist in the game today like Mos Def, Q-Tip, RZA, and RAEKWON. Their first album dropped on Black Friday(how novel) and its dope a must listen for sure. I can't wait for more music from these cats...If they tour its going to be insane!

Matisyahu One Day Live on Letterman

I haven't really been in a blogging mood lately. I think you have to feel driven or inspired or care in order to really do and create or honestly even comment on others creations and things you might be into i.e. to BLOG.

Matisyahu one of my favorite musical artist of today, if not of all time, took a break from his eight night Festival of Lights concert experience in NYC during Chanukah to perform on Letterman. He played One Day a BEAutiful song...check it out!

Maestro Knows-Season 3 With 9th Wonder

I must say that as a student and an aspiring young filmmaker I am always excited to see a new episode of Maestro Knows fresh off the presses! He is a try inspiration to me and to many others around the world. But not only that he is a humble cat... he replied to an email I sent him like the next day (most professors don't even do that). I am a HUGE fan of Levi Maestro's web series titled appropriately Maestro Knows, and have posted episodes before.

In the opening episode of season 3 Maestro has traveled down south to visit the great 9th Wonder in order to score his opener! I love the production that goes behind making music especially hip-hop. 9th Wonder is amazing and its very cool to see him do his thing. In the episode he talks about his upcoming position teaching a class on sampling and soul at DUKE university I WISH I COULD TAKE THAT CLASS SO BAD! Check out the show...OneLove

Star Wars New Era Hats

I think it might be the cold weather or something but for the past week or so i've had a strong urge to watch Star Wars specifically Empire(my favorite of the series to bad Natalie Portman isn't in that one). I just saw today that New Era has come out with a line of Star Wars inspired caps just in time for the Holiday season too bad they are only for sale on their Japan site. The caps feature almost any character you can think of from Darth Vader to Yoda and more, the New Era fitted caps take on an animated spin for the die-hard Star Wars fans.

Song of The Day: "Pursuit of Happiness" Kid Cudi

This video is amazing it is done really really well...the speeding up and slowing down slow motion stuff is great! The party just looks like an amazing time almost like my New Years party last year. From beginning to end they match what is going on and what the song has to offer very nice...check it out

A.I. is A Sixer Again!

A.I. was once my favorite basketball player. I came across him watching a game when I was in middle school and knew he was for me. He was flashy, loud, full of personality and most of all he played with all his heart moving the ball down the court like no one i'd ever seen before! I have been personally sad with the way his past couple of years have gone in the NBA. When he got traded to the Pistons to not do anything and have trouble with the team...to only play three games with the Grizzles and then get fired...and finally having to face no team picking him up and his only option to retire. I just couldn't believe that the 10-time All-Star guard who has scored more than 24,000 points and won two All-Star game MVPs was done with the game. But guess again his O.G. team has signed him and he will play for the Sixers once again! Iverson had this to say about his former team "I always thought it was strange having another uniform, I couldn't feel comfortable with another uniform."

I already picked him up for my fantasy NBA team and I am ready to see what he can do for me! He truly is the ANSWER

Songs of The Day: "You Don't Know My Name" & "Like You'll Never See Me Again" Alicia Keys

From time to time I just like to look at music videos online...tonight I remembered some old Alicia Keys videos that are pretty good. Mrs. Keys is quite the looker and oh so talented to boot which is extra sexy. If a woman has talent and is creative then I am there. Here are the videos....

The first video is for her song "You Don't Know My Name" I remember when this song came out I thought it was a hit. It just so happens to be co-produced and written by both Keys and Kanye West(Yessir). The video is fresh it follows a simple story line but its done very well shot BEAutiful! Plus my man MOS DEF plays the love interest check it...

The Second video is from later in Mr.s Keys career and its for the song "Like You'll Never See Me Again". Although its about a totally different part of love and relationships then the last song and video it is equally passionate and romantic. A all around great song! This video also has a great concept and is done very well. Plus my other main man COMMON SENSE plays the love interest check it out...

We Were Once A Fairytale

I finally found a site that had the Spike Jonze short film with Kanye in it called We Were Once A Fairytale. Its pretty damn weird but I guess i'd suggest checking it out...The First two minutes are probably the best of it in my opinion.
