The World Is Yours: Lawrence Watson

I wish I could be in London to check out this show. But I guess the book will be good enough. I love the title of the book and show. Straight Nas the world is yours...

British photographer Lawrence Watson had been deemed “one of the most talented yet humble photographers” UK had ever seen, perhaps because of his humble roots. Watson grew up in Hammersmith, London, and said that his experience in art stemmed from tracing images off the projector in school because his teacher let the students cheat. Watson had been photographing musicians since the 80s and his portfolio covers the likes of Oasis, David Bowie and Snoop Dog. Watson’s photographs carry a vibrantly faded feel and capture interesting auras of various musicians, synergizing seamlessly with the setting.

The exhibition, The World Is Yours, is a selection of photographs from Watson’s forthcoming book of the same title. The show opens this coming Saturday, May 30, and will run though Sunday, Jun 7, at the LondonNewcastle Project Space. The admission is free, so those who happen in to be in town should definitely go show some love for the local lad, give the floppy haired man a pat on the back and let him know how great his work is. Because, he really doesn’t know.
