Mayer Hawthorne Plays His Own Halftime Show as Nickelback Alternative

Earlier this month, soul singer Mayer Hawthorne campaigned in the Rolling Stone studio to replace Nickelback as the halftime performer for the big Detroit Lions home game on Thanksgiving Day after many loyal Lions fans attempted to get the rockers kicked off the bill. Nickelback is keeping the gig after all, but that's not going to stop Hawthorne from celebrating Thanksgiving – and the Lions – in style on Thursday. In this clip, the Detroit native announces that he'll be broadcasting his own halftime show from his parents' house, with his own dad on bass. "I'm gonna play a short medley of favorites and some songs especially for Detroit," says Hawthorne. "The band will be all local musicians from Detroit. We'll be watching the game upstairs!"

Happy Valentines Song of The Day "Go" Common

The body of a dancer, we had chemistry cuz she was a Cancer
Thought forever it would last for, but forever move faster, so I had to
Still I gotta pause when I think about her in dem draws
And a ooh baby she liked it raw and like rain when she came it poured
And like a car that I can't afford I would want it then want some more
The positions our frames explored let me know she was secure, back for more I wanna

Uh, on the count of three everybody run back to your fantasy, now

GO!

Happy Hanukkah!

Today is the first night of Hanukkah, I can't believe how early it is starting this year. Finals haven't even began. Anyways a Happy Hanukkah to all my Jewish brothers and sisters. This year the one and only Matisyahu drops a new Hanukkah song entitled “Miracle”! He plans to unveil it live at this year’s Festival of Light shows, which kick off this Monday at Brooklyn Bowl in NYC and continue through the end of the holiday. I have seen Matis 5 times in 4 different states and one day soon hope to make it to his annual Festival of Lights concerts in NYC! I wish I was in LA for the open extra call on the music video for "Miracle" it would've been so badass...

Here is what Matis had to say about his new song:
“I wanted to give the Jewish kids something to be proud of. We've got Adam Sandler's song, which is hilarious, but I wanted to try to get across some of the depth and spirituality inherent in the holiday in a fun, celebratory song.”

Mothers Day and Wedding Photos

Here are some of the photos my Dad and I took with his Nikon on mothers day and my brothers wedding. I have some experience taking pictures of gardens considering I did an entire project on it fall semester. I really liked all the glass work by Chihuly through out the gardens and took a lot of pics. Check out the photos and see what you think...

There's No Place Like Home

This past weekend was probably one of the best times I've had back at home in a really long time. Saturday I went to my homegirl Audrey's house for a party and got to see all of my friends, some I hadn't seen in a very long time and it was so good to see them! Recently I've been doing a lot of soul searching just questioning my self worth, and you know what, I am full of self worth! I have drive and ambition and I get things done and have my life together. My parents are doing a lot of work on our house its crazy. When I pulled into the drive way I was shocked to find a giant dumpster! Sunday I felt like doing some work so I put my muscles to real work not just lifting weights... I cleaned up the yard throwing all kinds of junk into the dumpster and then raked the entire back yard! If you've ever been to my house then you know its surround by trees and there have been leafs covering the ground for years like 4 feet high leaf piles! It felt good to do work and be out in the weather things just smelt like home if you know what I mean! My brother also came home with out his fiancee for the first time in a while and it was good just to chill with him. We hit up a new trail down by south river and found a rope swing that will be dope in a couple of weeks.
