The Heads of State Travel Posters Series

Design collective THE HEADS of STATE release a new series of travel posters. Taking iconic elements from across the United States, the represented cities include the beaches of Miami, New York’s Statue of Liberty, the Space Needle in Seattle, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Washington Monument in Washington D.C. among other cities/monuments. Nostalgically-reproduced, the contrasted prints are available through THE HEADS of STATE online store for $30 a pop. If you've ever been in my room then you know that I am poster and art crazy! I don't think there is a inch free to even out a new poster anywhere. I've had to put things on the ROOF ya dig. Theses are totally my style I wish there was an ATL one though, I guess I'd get NYC, Chicago or Miami...

Happy St. Patty's Day 2010

Happy St. Patty's Day everyone. It is def Ireland weather outside. Today is a different St. Patty's Day then I have had in the last couple of years. This will be the first year in at least 5 or 6 that I will not be going to the Pub in Decatur with my family. It is kind of sad to think about it ya know. Today also sucks because I have 9:30 AM classes on Thursdays (tomorrow) so I really wouldn't want to get fucked up anyways plus I have a ASL presentation tomorrow at 9:30 AM that I have to do good on! So no going out no St. Patty's celebration. Sometimes I get mad at everyone that just wants to go get drunk because its St. Patty's not because they are Irish or anything like that, but I guess today everyone is Irish after all.

Proof Girls are Evil

This might be some of the simplest math out there...I don't know if I fully agree because to me in relationships money is simple you just trade on who pays and when you know just keep it equal. At my age its not like either of us are rolling in greenbacks. But hey this equation still makes since.

K'NAAn "Waving Flag"

I am not the biggest soccer fan but this song is good and the video is legit. There are some great shots of Damian Marley playing soccer which is real cool.

New Watch

I finally spent my Amazon gift cards that i've had since christmas! And this is what I got! I have wanted a sports watch for a while now. This past week on SB I realized how much it was needed since I couldn't wear my other watch to snorkel or really do anything at the beach or outside. I like to keep my things nice you know so they last a long time. I have been pretty into watches since I got my other watch for my birthday over the summer. While shopping for this watch I finally saw how much my birthday watch cost. I had never checked to see because that kind of thing doesn't mean anything to me. The price of the gift is not what makes it special ya know. But this watch DAMN! I always loved it and thought it was great before I knew but now I just feel like damn what a nice gift/watch/ fuck my life right now she was/is such a BA!

Evolution of the Nike Logo

The Swoosh logo was designed by Carolyn Davidson in 1971 – a graphic design student that Phill Knight met while teaching an accounting class at Portland State University to supplement his then-fledgling business. He paid a grand total of $35! Phill never liked the logo but stuck onto it quoting “I don’t love it, but it’ll grow on me”. 12 years later in 1983, Davidson got an invitation to lunch by Nike where Knight surprised her with a gold Swoosh ring embedded with diamond and an envelope containing Nike stock. Nike is one of the best companies to work for they take care of their people!

Spring Break 2010 and the State of Things

This past week was spring break. It was really needed to say the least but of course it came and went to quickly...I went on a cruise with the Ksaw family it was soooo good to see all my friends. I didn't know how long it had been since I had seen a lot of my people. I realize now just how much I missed all of them. I always knew I missed them...moving away from my Ksaw family was very hard to do. Living here in Athens away from everything I really care about I realize how alone I am, I don't really have anyone to talk to about how I really feel you know. The friends I have here are new and I am def not comfortable talking to them about my personal affairs. I had some great conversations with my brothers over the break. I do know that moving away has helped with me and my brother Joseph "Stacks" Spada relationship which is a positive.

Its hard to start over...I've always said no regrets, and I don't regret anything that has happened in the last year but its hard to not think what if...what if this what if that. I try not to think about her but E is always in the back of my mind. Life gets hard sometimes...

Anyways I am back to reality...time to rock out the rest of the semester and figure out what I am going to do this summer! MAN It never stops!

Song of the day "In This World" by Reflection Eternal

NIke Vintage Vision

Just in time for spring, for the longer days and brighter sun, Nike has released a series of shades that marries the best of both worlds—Nike’s specialized technical features are now no stranger to stylish vintage shapes through Nike Vintage Vision. Spurred by European skiers and Hollywood icons such as Steve McQueen and Paul Newman, vintage shades that lend an old-world cool are now equipped with technical functions that fuse sports and style to a chic, macabre precision.

I have a pair of Nike sunglasses and they are the shit. They were the first pair of expensive shades that I ever bought and they've done me justice for about 3 years now! I want the tortoiseshell pair of these!

Hanging out of a trolly car in New Orleans on SB08 rocking my Nike Shades

Nike Vintage Vision Vintage 72 lineup consists of colorways Havana, Nero and Gaillo and Nero. The Vintage 72 is inspired by 70s sunglasses styles and are recovered from archival models. They 72 shades come in different matte and tortoiseshell frames and are matched with different colored lenses. The shapes are reminiscent of roomier aviators but with retro plastic frames instead of metal ones a la Ray-Ban.

This or That?

So I have $80.00 worth of Amazon gift cards that I've had since christmas...I finally went on Amazon today to look at stuff. These are two different things that I have wanted for awhile now. The shoes are $47.00 and the watch is $69.95. Basically I don't know which one I should get. If I get the shoes then I have a lil bit more money to spend on something else to. If I get the watch then it'll probably be about all I can get. So what do you think I should do? Or do you have any other ideas of what I could spend this money on?

I Miss Atlanta

I miss Atlanta soooooo much! Over the years I have hated on the south and being from here. I guess because half of my roots are from the north and the fact that I am Jewish and grew up in an area where that wasn't always accept made me hate it here. Nothing about me is very country ya dig. But the older I get the more I love it here, and by here I mean ATL. I am a city guy, I grew up around and loving the big city its bright lights and big dreams. Now that I live in Athens I haven't been able to make that short drive to the A to get my fix of that giant cultural mixing pot like I use to. The last month or so has been really hard for me and I need ATL soo bad right now. I just want to feel like I am at home around the things I love. ATL is such a cool place from Lil Five to Decatur all the way up to Buckhead and back down to the Virginia Highlands and Piedmont Park. If you haven't spent much time in the A or the south I suggest you change that because its amazing here...just don't call it the "dirty south" nothing is dirty here in fact things are probably a lot cleaner and natural then most cities up north!
This picture has been the background for my computer since I got it 4 years ago. I love ATLANTA!

Song of the day "Things You Do" by Q-Tip

For the past week or so this song has been one of 5 or 6 Q-Tip songs that has been the only music I have been listing to. I love Q-Tip he is such an amazing musical artist and so talented. I don't really even know what the main point of this song is but it touched me and made me feel happy.
Lets talk about the rules I bring
And the things we take
And the jobs we hold
And the land we stole
And a buck or two
And the love for you
And the things you do

This is BANANAS!

This song is pretty good OK Go definitely make good music, but their videos are by far the craziest! I'd guess it took them several takes to get this final one. The video was filmed in a two story warehouse, in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA. I guess the best thing to call it is a chain reaction "machine", and it was designed and built by the band, along with members of Synn Labs over the course of several months. I am telling you this is a must watch. There are so many crazy things the "machine" does. I like the part with the glasses of water that make different sounds to play the melody. CHECK IT OUT!

Song of the day "Umi Says" by Mos Def

I LOVE THIS SONG! I bought Mos Def's Black on Both Sides album when I was 12 years old. This song was a big reason for why I wanted it. I am 22 years old now and this song has been in my life for a decade now. Every time I hear it I can transport myself to soooo many places in time. It has personally been there for me in hard times and in good. I think the songs message is very important. We all struggle and have things that bring us down, and sometimes we might not understand everything that happens but we have to move on because life is short. We have to shine our light on the world and be there for the ones that love us and the ones we love. People come and go in your life and some can touch your soul, sometimes they are in your life for a longtime like your family and other times they might just be the person who helps you at the store you never know. I guess what I am trying to say is its important to cherish every moment you are here because you never know when things might change. Its been ten years and when times get tough I still think of these lyrics its a part of me and it goes: "I ain't no perfect man I'm trying to do, the best that I can, With what it is I have."

Tomorrow may never come
For you or me
Life is not promised
Tomorrow may never show up
For you and me
This life is not promised

I ain't no perfect man
I'm trying to do, the best that I can,
With what it is I have
I ain't no perfect man
I'm trying to do, the best that I can,
With what it is I have

Put my heart and soul into this song (yes yes)
I hope you feel me
From where I am, to wherever you are
I mean that sincerely
Tomorrow may never come
For and me
Life is not promised
Tomorrow may never appear
You better hold this very moment very close to you (right now)
Very close to you (right now)
So close to you, So- close to you (your moment in history is right now!)
Don't be affraid, to let it shine

Sometimes I get discouraged
I look around and, things are so weak
People are so weak
Sometimes,
Sometimes I feel like crying
Sometimes my heart gets heavy
Sometimes I just want to leave and fly away (fly fly fly, like a dove)
Sometimes I don't know what to do with myself (ow!)
Passion takes over me
I feel like a man
Going insane
Losing my brain
Trying to maintain
Doing my thang

Vintage Green Chair

This really dope vintage chair was sitting against a wall in the bottom of the Journalism school today. Its very cool...I wish that I could've taken it home with me. My favorite color is green and I like the two tone use. The materials are nice you've got a leather lime green backing and what felt like tweed mint green cushions. It was in great condition as well. DAMN I want it! But I guess your wants are always more than your needs.
