Song of the Day: Bruce Springsteen "Born In The USA"

So I understand the message the boss is trying to get across and it is not a pro-american one. But still I think this is a powerful song and makes me proud to be an american.  And I think it is great for memorial day.  The boss is just the real working class hero and that is all it is too it. Great song by a great.  He also has one of those names that when I saw him live I thought they were booing him at first but they were really saying BRUUUUUCE!

Happy Memorial Day

To all our men and women of the armed forces and those who have served I wish you a happy memorial day.  To serve our country and give the ultimate sacrifice is a great deed, and I have mad respect for all who do.  My father is a vetnam vet and I have always had a strong since of the honor and duty you get from serving in the military.  I am proud to be an american. Everyone have a safe and fun day off wish it was better weather for us...OneLove.

Stoops Of Manhattan

There are two places I think I need to move to in order to do what I want to do for a career NY & LA.  But it's always been a dream of mine to live in NY and this painting really makes me want to go!  Painter Andrew Berrien Jones casts his eye on the mid-19th century iron railings ornamenting the stoops of lower Manhattan. Twenty of Jones’ paintings are on view at the Museum of the City of New York in Stoops of Manhattan: Railings and Shadows. An important documentation of the artistry of ironwork, and a testament to Jones’ attention for shape and texture in the urban environment.

Song of the Day: Ahmad "Back In The Day"

So I bought a cd with this song on it when I was in 5th or 6th grade and had barley made it through all the years the song did.  Now I've gone pretty far into the years of my life.  I know I am only 21 about to be 22 but life seems like its flying by to me.  The other nite when I went to the gym there was a high school graduation at KSU and it made me feel old.  I can still remember that nite and being so excited to be done with High School and on my way ready to party that nite. And now it's three years later crazy.

Listen to the song and get the message.

Back in the days when I was young
I am not kid anymore,
but some days and sit and wish I was a kid again

Thoughts of the Day: May 23, 2009

So it's been awhile since the last time I wrote a thought of the day page.  What can I say summer time is when you have no cares and worries and I guess all my free time has been taking away from my blogging.  So here we go some one on one real talk time.

So recently I've discovered the only REAL CONSTANT IN LIFE IS CAHNGE.  Everything changes: we change, our surroundings change, where we live change, the people we hang out with change.  Everyday we all change just a lil without even knowing it.  I feel like these are the years we find out who we are as people.  The ones of us who have moved on and left home have changed in different ways then the ones who stayed back.  We mite like different things and we mite act differently.

I miss my friends from the old Hco crew all the time it seems like forever ago since we all truly hung out.  I love all of you: Luke, Jmeg, Dusty, Mike, Charles, Will, Sheezan, Tray, Josh, Scott, Klo, Cj, and Audrey.  I hope that we don't lose touch more so than we already have.  "Good friends we have oh good friends we've lost along the way." This 4th of July my bros are going to be down for the unity.

On the big note of change.  I got accepted to UGA(as you can tell from the hat) for a second time and will be going there in the fall.  This is a BIG DEAL!  I am leaving the life and all my friends that I have spent three years making at KSU.  But like I said the only REAL CONSTANT IN LIFE IS CHAGNE and this is one of those life changing choices that I am making.  To move on and see what else lies ahead of me.  Its going to be a new gigantic school with all sorts of new experiences for me to figure out.  I am very excited about living in a real college town and going to what is known as the real college experience. Don't get me wrong KSU is great but I want something else.  UGA offers a great program for my major.  Plus my girl is there so it all works out.

To all my TNC and KSU friends and family.  These past three years have been life changing to say the least.  Especially this past year and half with all my TNC family.  I have learned and grow alot since being around all of you.  I will never forget the late nites, early mornings, the trip to the beach, to athens, to atl and all about.  Family dinner and breakfast and just our conversations.  You have been a true family to me and I love all of you: Jimbo, Kev Kev, J.Kicks, Katie, Haley, Ashley & Marissa, Jon B, Max Max, Chris, Matt, Zon, Danielle and anyone I missed.  I better be seeing all of you next year in Athens and back at Ksaw.  You got a month or so left with me lets make it count!

Yo Spada it's been a wild ride we both came up to KSU together to meet new people and have that college life and we got it man we really got it.  Its the end of an era man...you know I love you and your my brother for life.  Through all the bull shit man we made it.

ONELOVE...

oh hey kevin newkam pukem pukem...

Still Life & Marc Jacobs - Straw Hat Collection

New York City’s milliner, Still Life, is partnering up with Marc Jacobs this season to launch a collection of straw hats just in time for summer. Residing in the heart of the Lower East Side, Still Life is one of the few milliners around that provides handcrafted hats that are fitted to perfection for each customer by an on site seamstress. Still Life hats are produced locally in its own millinery factory in Brooklyn, thus exerting complete control over each hat from sketch to finish.

The collection of collaborative straw hats with Marc Jacobs are handmade entirely in New York City from concept to the finishing trim, aside from the materials. Some of the styles in the collection include the Parri Buntle with South American Straw, the classic Panama Straw which gets a Marc Jacobs makeover with bright hand-dyed colors, and also the Rice Straw which features a special braid and shape. These hats will only be available at Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs stores next week, retailing for $225  I wish I had the money and time to go to NY get one of these bad boys fitted for my head.  I just tried on my straw fedora I got last summer and it has been played out granted its been all over the world but it's lost its shape and doesn't look fresh anymore.  Time for a new one...

"The Shot"

So the last two Cavs games have been so hectic both came down to the wire and this one last nite ended the rite way.  When that shot went in I jump so high out of my chair screaming it was so intense and awesome!  It's that Michael Jordan type shit!  When kids look back at Lebron and this shot HE WILL BE LIKE MIKE TO THEM!  It is just unbelievable...for all the people who don't like Lebron or hate on him I just don't understand?  He is the King the chosen one the MVP and thats all I have to say about that...Lets go Cavs take to the house in Orlando!

Terminator Salvation

Terminator Salvation was BADASS!  I am talking about ridiculous jaw dropping action!  My friend Haley looked over at me last nite and said that I was just sitting there with my mouth open because it was so intense...A must see especially in the theaters where you get all the big sound and big screen. My seat was shaking from how loud the speakers were and it made the movie that much better. Christian Bale killed as John Connor he is the new action hero of our generation hands down from Batman to this...Common did a great job with his role...and they cast this  smoking hot new actress that really held her own by the name of get this Moon Bloodgood...check her out on this months cover of Maxim.

Biz Markie "Just A Friend"

So this song has made a comeback with everything else from the 80's and 90's it seems like recently.  It is in a really good Heineken commercial which has prompted people like J. Kicks and others to listen to it all the time and play it like it is a brand new song.  Well let me tell ya its not.  If you were a fan of hip-hop your whole life like muah then you'd know its a classic song.  Here is the video for it which is also classic...sorry about the rant it just makes me mad when people get all up on things and don't even know the facts or history about it...

Song of the Day: Common "I Want You"

To continue on a "Common" theme. I listened to this song on the way back from the gym yesterday and I remembered today that it has a badass video in my opinion so I figured it would make a great song of the day.  The album this song is off of is probably Common's best every song is great.  But to continue this video has a great style and theme I think the way it was shoot it great. I love the titles at the start and and freeze frame credits at the end...

DOW JONES!

This is probably one of the funniest videos i've seen...i mean ever, it's great!  I only wish it was a real movie cause id be badass!

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

I wish this would happen to those basters!

This commercial was banned in america it is a lil twisted but if it happened to all the terrorist id be soo happy!

Artiest on Artiest Interview: Common & McG

Here is a lil interview with my main man Common and McG the director of Terminator Salvation.  Which should prove to be one of the more badass action blockbusters of the summer.  A lil fact McG use to director episodes of the O.C.

Sherlock Holmes

This movie looks badass.  Robert Downey Jr. has been making some great movies recently and I think this one is going to be a hit.  Just check out the trailer and see for yourself!  Might already have the family christmas nite movie rite here....

Song of the Day: Nas "The Wolrd Is Yours"

This is one of Nas best songs.  It has a sick piano and beat.  Just old school laid back relax straight killin it flow.  A must listen and have on your ipod or mix cd if you are a real hip-hop fan.  This aint that Lil Wayne Souja Boy Bullshit I hear oh too much.

Sick ass first verse...

I sip the Dom P, watchin Gandhi til I'm charged
Then writin in my book of rhymes, all the words pass the margin
To hold the mic I'm throbbin, mechanical movement
Understandable smooth shit that murderers move wit
The thief's theme, play me at night, they won't act right
The fiend of hip-hop has got me stuck like a crack pipe
The mind activation, react like I'm facin time like
'Pappy' Mason with pens I'm embracin
Wipe the sweat off my dome, spit the phlegm on the streets
Suede Timb's on my feets, makes my cypher, complete
Whether crusin in a six-cab, or Montero Jeep
I can't call it, the beats make me fallin asleep
I keep fallin, but never fallin six feet deep
I'm out for presidents to represent me (Say what?)
I'm out for presidents to represent me (Say what?)
I'm out for dead presidents to represent me

Nike Most Valuable Puppets Chalk Commercial

Excited about NBA post-season match ups? So is LeBron James, at least his puppet Doppelgänger is in this latest commercial by Nike. Released over the weekend, it features an irrepressible LeBron, who took home this year’s Most Valuable Player award, practicing his trademark “chalk” maneuver (a funny take on his habit). All the while, a seasoned and mellow Kobe Bryant attempted to calm him…Lets go Cavs bring Lebron home that first Championship ring!

Wolverines By NIke

So as most of you know I love Wolverine and the X-Men even got an old school Wolverine poster on my wall and you guys also know my deep love for kicks especially Nikes so these bad boys right here are just the best of both worlds. They are inspired by the new X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie. X-Men Pack which consists of a Nike Big Nike and a Nike Air Max 95. The Big Nike is modeled after Wolverine’s classic costume, consisting of yellow, black, blue, and red. On the side paneling, heel and tongue, you can see slash designs to symbolize Wolverine’s claws doing some damage. The Air Maxes are designed after Wolverine’s brother, the evil Sabretooth. The colorway matches perfectly, and there’s even a little fur by the tongue.

Taking Of Woodstock

In Theaters: June 5, 2009
Check out the trailer HERE.
Taking Woodstock is the new film from Academy Award-winning director Ang Lee - and it’s a trip! Based on the memoirs of Elliot Tiber, the comedy stars Demetri Martin as Elliot, who inadvertently played a role in making 1969’s Woodstock Music and Arts Festival into the famed happening it was. Featuring a standout ensemble cast, and songs from a score of ’60s musical icons including The Grateful Dead, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, and Country Joe and the Fish - plus a new recording of “Freedom” from Richie Havens - Taking Woodstock is a joyous voyage to a moment in time when everything seemed possible. Working as an interior designer in Greenwich Village, Elliot feels empowered by the gay rights movement. But he is also still staked to the family business - a dumpy Catskills motel called the El Monaco that is being run into the ground by his overbearing parents, Jake and Sonia Teichberg (Henry Goodman and Imelda Staunton). In the summer of 1969, Elliot has to move back upstate to the El Monaco in order to help save the motel from being taken over by the bank. Upon hearing that a planned music and arts festival has lost its permit from the neighboring town of Wallkill, NY, Elliot calls producer Michael Lang (Jonathan Groff) at Woodstock Ventures to offer his family’s motel to the promoters and generate some much-needed business. Elliot also introduces Lang to his neighbor Max Yasgur (Eugene Levy), who operates a 600-acre dairy farm down the road. Soon the Woodstock staff is moving into the El Monaco - and half a million people are on their way to Yasgur’s farm for “3 days of Peace & Music in White Lake.” With a little help from his friends, including theater troupe leader Devon (Dan Fogler), recently returned Vietnam veteran Billy (Emile Hirsch), and cross-dressing ex-Marine Vilma (Liev Schreiber) - and with a little opposition from townspeople, including Billy’s brother Dan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) - Elliot finds himself swept up in a generation-defining experience that would change his life - and popular culture - forever.

Song of the Day: Shaggy feat Janet Jackson "Luv Me Luv Me"

Nike Zoom Harbour SB-Fish

Though the Nike Zoom Harbour is not one of Nike SB’s more popular models, it is definitely a sneaker which provides optimum comfort while still looking good. This time around, the Zoom Harbour SB comes standard with a clean black suede upper accented by a green fish scale textured swoosh, green stitching, and a bright pink inner lining and tongue tag. Contrasting the multicolored upper, the white laces and midsole bring this sneaker full circle, and give it that fresh look we are accustomed to seeing from Nike SB. The Nike Zoom Harbour SB - Fish is now available at your local Nike SB retailers.  I just order a pair of these bad boys myself they are gong to be fresh to death this summer.

Song of the Day: The Impressions "It's All Right"

So I heard this song on the radio on the way back home today.  Classic by a great group.

We're gonna move it slow
When lights are low
When you move it slow, it sounds like more
And it's all right, whoa, it's all right

Lebron is MVP

Yesterday, Lebron James, “The King” himself, was crowned the 2008-2009 NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP). The ceremony was fittingly held at the school where it all started for James—St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. LeBron led the MVP race with 1,172 votes, while the second place finisher, Kobe Bryant, totaled a mere 689 votes. There is no doubt that LeBron was a beast on the courts this year.

Air Yeezy: Release @ Standard Peachtree

The Nike Air Yeezy, the collaboration sneaker between Nike and Kanye West, was released in it’s second color yesterday across the US. At Standard in Atlanta, Georgia, those who waited in line upwards of 5 days were treated to a “breakfast of champions” and an even nicer “dessert” when Standard opened it’s doors. This is definitely one of the more creative ways to thank the customers who waited so long in line for a pair of shoes
